Feature Films:
Feature
films must be fictional and 60 minutes or over TRT. This
category includes cash prizes for the following: Best
Feature ($1000); Best Screenplay ($500); Best Director
($500); Best Actor ($500); Best Actress ($500). |
Narrative
Short Films:
Short
films must under 60 minutes TRT. This category includes
a cash prize for the following: Best Short Film ($500).

Documentary
Feature Films:
Documentary
films must be 45 minutes or over TRT. This category includes
a cash prize for the following: Best Documentary($500). |
TV
Pilots:
TV Pilots
may include presentations or full-length pilots, and must
be over 5 minutes TRT but no more than 60 minutes. This
category includes a cash prize for the following: Best
TV Pilot ($250). |
Screenplays:
The HIFF
will accept submissions of unproduced feature-length screenplays
for this category. Screenplays must be at least 50 pages
but no more than 180 pages. This category includes the
following prize: Best Unproduced Screenplay ($500). |

Terms and Conditions
All applicants submitting to HIFF, must agree to the following:
My entry is a screenplay or a feature film, short film, documentary film or TV pilot entered for judging on DVD or Blu-Ray. If my entry is selected for Festival screening at HIFF, I agree to rush a DigiBeta (NTSC) or Beta SP (NTSC) or DVD (NTSC) or Blu-Ray (NTSC) or 35mm print. I hold the Hoboken International Film Festival harmless from damage to the Beta Tape/DVD/Blu-Ray/35mm print en route or otherwise during the course of the Festival's possession of the Beta Tape/DVD/Blu-Ray/35mm print. I agree that if I want my exhibition Beta Tape/DVD/Blu-Ray/35mm print returned to me, I must pay for the shipping costs in the manner defined in HIFF's General Rules.
I also agree to the following terms: Cash prizes are conditioned upon winners personal presence and acceptance at the festival's Gala Awards Ceremony. The winner of the jury awards for Best Feature Film, Best Documentary Feature, Best Short Film, Best TV Pilot and the Audience Award Best of the Festival, must be personally accepted by the projects' producer, director or executive producer in order to be eligible for the cash prizes. In order to receive any cash prize, the winner's film must have been submitted with the appropriate submission fee; films submitted without their respective submission fees are not eligible for cash prizes, though they may win HIFF award(s) and are entitled to the trophies if they do win any HIFF award(s).
In the event that HIFF pays for airfare and/or hotel accommodations for any filmmakers and/or any individuals whatsoever, those said filmmakers/individuals shall forfeit the right to receive any cash prize(s) in a monetary value up to an amount equal to HIFF's payment of his/her airfare and/or hotel accommodations.
I also agree that HIFF has the absolute, unconditioned right to screen any film or project that I submit to HIFF.
HIFF is hereby granted the right to utilize an excerpt from any film submitted and accepted for exhibition during the Festival for promotional purposes and at the gala awards ceremony.
The individual or corporation submitting the film hereby warrants that it is authorized to commit the film for screening, and understands and accepts these requirements and regulations.
The undersigned shall indemnify and hold harmless Hoboken International Film Festival from and against any and all claims, liabilities, losses, damages, and expenses (including but not limited to attorney's fees, and costs of the court) which may be incurred by reason of any claim involving copyright, trademark, credits, publicity, screening, and loss of or damage to the screening videos entered.
By signing this document, I agree that I have read all of the instructions, rules and regulations set forth about HIFF including but not limited to the General Rules found on the Festival Information page of the HIFF website, and that I fully understand them and agree to abide by their terms and conditions.
